Let’s start with their Biography
Astral Projection (Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter) are based in Israel. They are considered the maestros of layeristic Trance & considered to be one of the most important goa-psy trance projects of the 90s worldwide. With countless epic hits on their arsenal, adventures in Goa in the early 90`s and their own distinctive sound. In addition to an extensive discography, the group has an extensive worldwide touring schedule.
Let’s continue with my musical discovery
In 1999 while I was visiting FNAC department store I found that compilation called Mushroom Trance volume 2 and checked it. Got convinced with the short samples and bought it. I went back home, listened to the whole CD and got surprised with the music genre. I decided to give it a chance since I shelled out a good amount of money on it.I listened to it again and again and found out the highlight of this compilation was a track called Liquid Sun written by Avi Nissim and Lior Perlmutter aka Astral Projection. And after that the story begins.
From there, I got a slap buying their iconic album Dancing Galaxy that was previously released in 1997, some years after I also bought the japanese version that includes bonus three-inch CD single.
I discovered their last album Another World (released in 1999), shortly after it was featured on a french radio station called Skyrock, during the Skyrave show on a Saturday evening. I remember the host was blown away with this album. I listened to it everyday, for several hours. On the same year, I bought Planet Goa vol. 1 and fell in love with an underrated tune called Power Gen (Live).
Let’s start with my parties experiences
I saw them for the first time ever in my life in France, on 13 July 2003, during Dayglo Edenkiss party near Paris. It reminds me an unforgettable memory, they played a great set with 2-3 new tracks including « Back From Hell » (with Matrix sample in it « This is our destiny ! »).
Avi Nissim was looking for someone in the crowd, waved at me and invited me to go on stage. I remembered it like it was yesterday. I met Avi Nissim at the end of the stage : « Hi Avi, it’s an honour for me », « No Ben, it’s an honour for me! ».
